| I have
owned and
loved poodles for the past 35 years. This includes 3 standards, 6 toys
and 3
minis. I currently share my home with 2 standards (Lillie and Louie), 2
toys
(Dusty and Gabriel), and 1 mini (Ashley), and 1 chubby
Chihuahua(Daphne)! I
have a wonderful family!
I have been
active
in poodle rescue groups on a continuous basis for the past 32 years. I
started
poodle rescue groups in both California in 1997 and Arkansas in 2004. I
was a
member of the Animal Disaster Rescue Team in California from 1997-2002. I have had 2
registered therapy poodles in California, and visited 3 different
nursing homes
and 1 Alzheimer unit on a monthly basis with my therapy poodles. It is very rewarding work to bring such
comfort
and joy to a sick, lonely person. I enjoy
competing
in matches, and have held several fund-raising events to help rescue
organizations. I have also contributed
to poodle rescue efforts by personally opening my home to many
abandoned
poodles in need, until forever homes were located. My 7 years
of
experience of working in a vet office has provided me with invaluable
knowledge
in evaluating and caring for rescue poodles with various health issues.
I am a proud
member
of the Poodle Club of Tulsa since 2003. For our club, I have worked
multiple
specialty shows in various roles. I
have helped compile our annual calendar
which benefited poodle rescue for the past 7 years. My most important contribution to the Poodle Club of Tulsa
has been as Rescue Chairman in past years. I have rehomed nearly
60 poodles annually. I was fortunate to be retired which enabled
me to respond immediately to accommodate the many rescues coming in
from the surrounding Oklahoma area. I regret to have to retire
from this position but my health warrents it. However, I will
continue to participate in club activities. |
